Hollin Bank's savings goals were set up and then forgotten. I redesigned them and built them in the bank's React Native app.

The brief

Hollin Bank had savings goals in its app, but most were abandoned within a month. The team wanted a version people would keep using, delivered as working code in their React Native app rather than a design file.

What I built

I replaced the progress rings with plain rows that show what is saved, what is left and when the next transfer lands. Round-ups from card payments go straight into a goal. Every change can be undone for ten seconds, which made people braver about moving money around.

I wrote the components in the bank’s codebase and paired with two of their developers on reviews, so the work kept moving after I left.

What changed

Two months after launch, 41% more goals were still active. Support questions about missing money fell by a third, mostly because the transfer schedule is now on screen.
